Taxation remains one of the topics that raises the most questions among Belgians living abroad. Tax residence, non-resident tax, pensions, real estate, double taxation, tax treaties… It is not always easy to know which rules apply when living outside Belgium.
To address these many questions, UFBE will organize several webinars dedicated to expatriate taxation.
First appointment: October 16, 2026
The first tax webinar is scheduled for Friday, October 16, 2026, at 2 PM. This meeting will address various tax questions directly concerning Belgians living abroad and provide explanations from specialists.
Free participation for UFBE members
The webinar will be free for UFBE members in good standing until December 31, 2027 (renewal of membership before October 12, 2026). It will also be open to non-members, for a participation fee of 50 €.
All information regarding this webinar will be gradually published on our dedicated page: www.jbee.be/webinaires
You can now register and also complete the questionnaire provided for you in order to let us know the tax questions and issues that concern you.
What topics could be addressed?
Among the themes that seem particularly relevant to us, we have notably identified:
- The INR (tax for non-residents) : who is affected and in what situations?
- Key dates and deadlines for the 2026 tax declaration.
- The 183-day rule : what does it really mean and what is its impact on tax residency?
- The determination of tax residency when living abroad while maintaining ties in Belgium.
- The 75% income rule and its consequences for non-resident taxpayers.
- Belgian and foreign income to declare : salaries, pensions, rental income, rents, financial income, capital gains, agricultural rents, etc.
- The taxation of Belgian pensions received abroad.
- The particular situation of civil servants, especially when the qualification of their status differs from one country to another.
- Real estate taxation when an expatriate retains an apartment, a house, land, or another property in Belgium.
- Preventive double taxation agreements : what are they for and how do they determine the country that can tax certain income?
- Situations of double taxation : how can they occur and what are the possible remedies?
- The new tax convention between Belgium and France : where does it stand and what could be its consequences for Belgians living in France?
This list is of course indicative and not exhaustive. The final themes will be determined based on your requests and in consultation with the tax experts participating in the webinar.
And you, what topics would you like to see addressed?
For the UFBE, it is essential that these webinars correspond to the concerns actually faced by Belgians living abroad.
That is why we want to give a voice to expatriates so that they can share with us the tax topics that interest them and the difficulties they are facing.
A questionnaire is available on our page dedicated to webinars. Feel free to complete it: your responses will help us determine the priority themes for our upcoming meetings.
The questions received may be grouped, reformulated if necessary, and above all completely anonymized before being communicated to the tax experts.
The goal is obviously not to turn these webinars into individual tax consultations, but to start from concrete situations experienced by expatriate Belgiansin order to provide explanations that may be useful to the greatest number.
