Editorial
Reforms in Mauritius, renewal internationally
Mauritius has experienced particularly dense news in recent weeks on two fronts.
On the national level, the Finance Act 2026, adopted on August 12, implements the measures announced in the 2026-2027 budget speech and amends twenty-five legislative texts.
On the international level, the U.S. Senate voted in August 2026 in favor of a two-year extension of the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA).
Together, these two developments illustrate how Mauritius continues to seek a balance between national reforms and its competitiveness as an international jurisdiction. The competitiveness of Mauritius indeed depends on these two dimensions: on one hand, the improvement of the national fiscal and regulatory framework and, on the other hand, the preservation of trade relations that connect the country to its main export markets.
The main provisions of the Finance Act 2026 concerning our financial sector will be examined during a webinar organized on September 2, bringing together a panel of Mauritian experts particularly knowledgeable about these issues.
DTOS will also organize another round table, on the occasion of theAFSIC London, on October 13, to examine how Mauritian structures, the protection offered by treaties, and strong institutional governance can help reduce regional funding deficits and promote investment flows.
As always, having informed and forward-looking advice remains essential to effectively navigate both national and international environments. This is precisely what we strive to provide you through this newsletter.
